Interview Tips


Before the interview:

  • Identify and set your specific career goals.
  • Evaluate your experience and compensation history to help determine your salary expectations.
  • Go the target company's website to learn about their business, corporate culture and recent events.
  • Review your resume and be able to talk about the information you have listed.
  • Make sure you have accurate directions and know how long it takes to get to the company.
  • Get a good night's sleep.
  • Arrive at least 10 minutes before your interview time.
  • Turn OFF cell phones and pagers.


During the interview:

  • Greet your interviewer with friendly eye contact and a firm handshake.
  • Conduct yourself as if you are determined to get the position you are discussing.
  • Make eye contact frequently.
  • Dress conservatively, avoiding strong or unusual fashion statements.
  • Answer all questions in complete sentences.
  • Ask questions about both the position and the prospective company.
  • Wait until you are offered a chair before sitting.
