CASE STUDIES

Oracle Financials Upgrade and Integration (Project In-Sourcing and Management)

Problem: The Company utilizes and is operationally dependent upon an Oracle Financials version 10SC implementation. A number of interfaces including a Check Writing Interface and a GL Interface are utilized. Oracle is discontinuing product support in which the company is dependent upon and therefore the company must upgrade to a newer version. Additionally, internal staffing level constraints prohibit the project from being completed by the internal staff.

Strategy: The upgrade and integration strategy is to identify a qualified and experienced third party to upgrade, test, and integrate Oracle Financials version 11i. The project is to include technical DBA training in parallel to all technical activities as well as end-user training with a short-term technology management provision.

Deliverable: Provide a start-to-finish in-sourced project solution to upgrade from an Oracle Financials version 10SC implementation to an Oracle Financials version 11i implementation.

Team: A team of experts was assembled that specialize in Oracle Financial conversions and large-scale financial implementations. All team members are proficient in Oracle Conversion Best Practices, which is used as the foundational technical framework for the 10SC to 11i upgrade. Additionally, all team members have extensive training and knowledge transfer experience related specifically to Oracle Financials.

Pre-Employment Skills Assessment Modules (Custom Software Development)

Problem: The Company utilizes commercially available skills assessment testing modules to measure a job applicant&##8217;s proficiency and skill level in a number of mission critical job categories. As the current pricing method is pay-per-test, a single applicant assessment can cost the company over one hundred dollars, Pass or Fail. The applicant base exceeds 3,000 persons annually. Additionally, a number of pay-per-test assessment modules do not resemble current business processes and contribute to inaccurate skills assessment.

Strategy: The skills assessment strategy calls for a set of assessment modules with source code, to be built and implemented that are true-to-process as well as company owned.

Deliverable: Develop and implement a series of true-to-process computer based skills assessment modules.

Team: The team of experts familiar with the architecture, development (VB 6.0, ACCESS AND SQL), and implementation of audio/video training modules was deployed. This project also required extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Object Models for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as extensive experience in audio script recording and production.

Human Resource Management Systems (Product Evaluation)

Problem: The company&##8217;s HR system utilizes a combination of internally developed and third party software modules. The absence of a fully integrated HRMS results in an abundance of data integrity issues as well as reliance on paper based methods. The company considered writing a replacement HRMS system in-house.

Strategy: RTR completed a high-level feasibility study and cost benefit analysis advising that the company would benefit greatly from a pre-programmed fully integrated HRMS solution.

Deliverable: Provide a comparative analysis of the top three Best of Breed HRMS solutions with a report of findings and recommendations.

Team: Organized a project team with extensive HRMS product development, product requirements definition, and product assessment/evaluation expertise.

CRM Marketing Strategy (Custom Development)

Problem: A top ten eCommerce Web Site desires to demonstrate their customer appreciation and provide additional value to their customers by providing free access to a collection of limited edition person-to-person eCards. The created eCards must rival the best eCards available for any price.

Strategy: More than one hundred special occasion and holiday theme eCards need to be deployed in less than ninety days to complete the collection in time for the holidays.

Deliverable: RTR assembled experts and a highly creative development team able to produce over one hundred of the highest quality eCards ever produced. Each eCard utilized audio and video/animation segments as well as a personalized text message to be viewed by the eCard&##8217;s recipient. The customer could modify the personalized text message and send the eCard to one or more email addresses.

Team: The most experienced animators and flash content creators with expertise in Flash 5.0, Sound Forge, and Photoshop were assembled. An RTR project manager was used to coordinate all project deliverables from Story Board Creation to Final Production. The foundational team was assembled and creating eCards within one week. Over 100 eCards were developed in time for the holidays.

Pre-Merger I/T Consolidation Assessment (I/T and Business Consulting)

Problem: Two privately held companies being merged, generate in excess of two million sales transactions per day. Both companies have extensive production support, finance, human resource, warehouse, shipping, and logistical systems to support current business processes. A variety of hardware and software technologies are utilized including IBM Mainframe, Unisys, various Client-Server systems, multiple vendor Database Management Systems implementations, as well as LANs, WANs, Internet, and Intranet Infrastructures.

Strategy: Post merger business strategy calls for a common set of technologies, processes, and software systems to be deployed within two years of merger.

Deliverable: Assess and report the impact of consolidating two disparate I/T infrastructures.

Team: National team of experts was assembled that specializes in technology migration, knowledge transfer, data conversion, and process engineering.
