Our Client's technology-focused business is currently looking for the right person to assist in the expansion, design, and operations of their global server hosting and collocation network. Our Client is a Publicly traded entity on the NYSE with over $2bill in annual revenues. This position requires an individual who is able to work successfully in a virtual environment, and who requires little direct supervision. Our Client is seeking a Backup Administrator Engineer.

Job Summary:

.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented Backup Administrator. The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to learn new technologies. This position is responsible for administrating all aspects of backups, including hardware, and related applications.
The candidate will design, install, maintain and monitor all backup platforms and related systems in support of the client's data center operations. This includes installing, configuring and maintaining backup storage infrastructure and backup related software. The candidate must enjoy working in a team environment; have strong written and oral communication skills, and enterprise backup and storage experience. .

Essential Functions:

Participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures for data backups and restores to ensure data recoverability in an efficient manner consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements

Assist with projects, as assigned

Any other assigned tasks required to support the success of the team

Documentation of the backup infrastructure

Ability to be on-call and respond on-site as required

Development and implementation of backup standards for all servers

Maintain SLA for the backup environment

Maintenance and new installation activities during maintenance windows

General troubleshooting of backup related issues

Assistance with Post Incident Report generation and all post mortem documentation for escalated events

Tune backup systems for optimal performance

Create/Maintain regular backup performance and SOX/compliancy reports

Capacity planning and hardware sizing for backup components

Participate in the planning and implementing of disaster recovery and high availability solutions for critical systems

Change ticket system update and coordination with other Operations groups

Experience and Education:

Experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting storage servers and Backup Exec management software (versions BE12.5, BE2010, and CASO)

Experience with HP StorageWorks EVA, NetApp and Robotic tape libraries

Experience with Backup Exec server(s) consolidation to include jobs, policies, and catalogs

At least a B.S. Completed

Skills:

Ability to work under pressure to solve technical problems quickly and to automate processes and solutions using available tools

Familiar with NDMP and DeDup practices

Familiar with off-site storage facility (Iron Mountain) web console for tape transmittals
